Nickel plated brass end caps for style. Screw plates are made from .104 thick (12 Gauge) plate. It's MIG welded to the 1/2" round cold finished steel rod made with 1018 grade steel for maximum rigidity. The included screws are #8 x 1-1/4" "wood screws" that have a corrosion resistant black finish to match the color of the product. They are also hardened so that they will not easily "round out" during installation.
